I think it is. The definition of an asexual is 'someone who feels no sexual attraction to another person.' Someone who doesn't feel a sexual attraction to people can still want to have children and have sex for that purpose. You can have sex for lots of reasons that don't involve feeling attracted to the person you're having it with - for power or money or protection or a child or to make someone you love happy.
