The gas man cometh

You know, this was not the best time for the boiler to break down. Now I'm angry because I *knew* it was fragile, I *knew* it was hanging on by a thread, and I still let my husband arrange for the gas men to come on Wednesday to try to fix the pressure. Result - before Wednesday the house had central heating and hot water, though you had to fiddle with the taps to keep the water coming.

Since Wednesday we've had one coal fire for heat, and had to boil the kettle for hot water. Now the gas men have gone off for the weekend and promise to come back on Monday. I have no faith that they will fix it then, and we have guests for Christmas. I'll have to tell them to come in their warmest coats!
