What a week!
Jun. 13th, 2008 04:52 pmWell, Andrew's operation went well, and they let him come home on Wednesday night. By the end of Thursday he was complaining that he wasn't an invalid, and today he's gone out to take photos of the cathedral. He still has another 5 days of sick leave to go, but if he carries on improving at the rate he's going, he'll be back to work on Monday.
Meanwhile, after my stress-out on Tuesday, and spending Wednesday in the hospital, I managed to go to the dentist on Thursday and get a new front tooth fitted. (I mentioned I'd had my tooth pulled out, didn't I?) So I have a single false tooth which is taking a bit of getting used to. That's just to last me for the three months it will take for my jaw to heal enough to have an implant, and I'm already looking forward to that day. I want to be able to bite again!
And after all that, I still managed to add another 5,000ish words to False Colors, meaning I have only another 5,000 to go and I'm at the 100,000 word mark. Admittedly this will go down a bit when I delete the current iceberg scene, which I'm replacing with a more exciting iceberg scene. But still, if I can work through a week like this week, I feel as though I can be quite proud of myself. What's better is that I've finally worked out *why* Alfie is behaving like such an arse, and why John has the flare-up of his not-inconsiderable temper that almost scuppers the happy ending. I had been worried that they were doing it just to be annoying, but now I think that it makes psychological sense. Or it will, once I've re-touched John's interview with Admiral Rodney :)
