What is this?
Live Long And Marry is a fandom auction to benefit marriage equality. Bidding begins on July 1, 12:01 AM one minute after midnight Pacific Time, 2008, and closes on July 15, 12:01 AM one minute after midnight Pacific Time, 2008.

What's the cause?
The auction will raise money for the fight against the California initiative which will legally destroy existing same-sex marriages and ban any further ones. If the initiative passes, it will write discrimination into the state constitution, annul existing marriages, and make Mr. Sulu cry.

I've offered to write an original slash story to the specifications of the highest bidder.  However, if anyone prefers, I will write fanfiction instead in either Tolkien, Star Wars:TPM, Torchwood, Temeraire, Patrick O'Brian or Pirates of the Caribbean fandoms.  So if you've always wanted to see me write Sparrington, or Celeborn/Thranduil, or Qui-Gon/Dooku, or finally get round to that Wray/Ledward story, now's your chance :)

Apologies to beta readers

My editor for 'False Colors' emailed yesterday to say 'the cheque's in the post, and incidentally, should I start work on this early draft?'  So I said 'no, don't, because if you wait until Friday, I should be able to send you the finished product.'  I've done as much as I can with it, I think, and as far as I'm concerned it's as ready to be submitted as I can make it.

So basically I'm now committed to sending them the manuscript either tomorrow - to get there before they have a day off for the 4th, or Monday, when they get back.  I'm sorry about this!  If you haven't got around to looking at it yet, then hurray!  That's good, you can forget about it and I won't have wasted any of your time.  If you have looked at it already then I would still love to see what you think, as there's always the editing stage to come when I can work in any necessary changes.  But that's entirely up to you :)  Sorry to mess you around!
