As for me, I've just come home from an hour and a half at the dentist having the bone of my upper jaw drilled and a titanium screw put in so that I can have my missing tooth replaced. Unfortunately, having cut open my gums and drilled a screw-thread into my skull, they decided I didn't really have enough bone to make the tooth secure, so they also did a bone graft. Then they screwed the titanium into my head and sewed the gums closed over it with six stitches. It was not nice! Now I have to swill my mouth out with antiseptic four times a day for two weeks (and it burns, precious!) then wait another three months for the bone graft to grow and fill in the hole. After that I can go back and they'll cut open the gum again and screw the replacement tooth to its titanium root. After it heals up from that, it's supposed to be good for life.
Not a good experience at all!
