We had a power cut this morning from 10am til nearly 1pm, which put paid to my 'today I'm going to get at least 3,000 words done' resolution. It did mean that I finished Rose's pinafore and tidied the living room and utility room, and cleaned the bathroom and toilet, however. (All with cold water as the boiler was off). All I can say is thank goodness for gas cookers, and the kind of reenactor magpie nature that means you never pass by a bargain copper kettle (properly tinned inside). I could make coffee on the stove, sew by the light of the window and listen to my mp3 player, and if it had got cold I could have lit the coal fire in the living room. But it does make me aware of quite how much I literally need the computer and internet.
Also tried again to read 'My Fair Captain' and gave up for the second time. Not my cup of tea. Neither is the BBC's new sword and sorcery series 'Merlin', which seems to be pretty but entirely devoid of any kind of originality whatsoever. How can you manage to make Merlin boring? Oh, I know, you can set it in pseudo-Medieval land and turn it into a cheap Eragon clone. I'm still waiting for someone to do an authentic Dark Ages one, but at this rate it's going to have to be me!
