First commission :D
Sep. 29th, 2008 04:58 pmI got my first ever commission for a book cover! Woohoo! That was from Margaret Leigh for her lovely short story 'Champion of Olympia'. It's a sweet m/m romance set in Ancient Greece:
Aristae is an athlete who dreams of fame and fortune and the chance to open his own Palaestra someday. Iason is an aleptae (massuese) who dreams of winning the heart of Aristae. Can they overcome the competition of rival athletes and the caprice of fickle gods and attain their hearts' desires?
And this is the cover:

Thanks so much for being my first ever customer, Margaret! I hope it will bring you lots more sales!
My sisters' visit at the weekend went very well and we all had a good time. Andrew cooked and I washed up, which turned out to be a roughly equal division of labour.
I've still got a coat and pair of breeches to make by the weekend though, so the stress levels are not greatly reduced yet!

and I've still got three chapters to go. So it seems clear that the first draft is going to be more than 30K! Not to worry, I can edit it down once I have it finished. I still think it will come in under 35K.
